ADISC v5 Upgrade Plan (and what you need to know!)

The ADISC v5.0 upgrade is coming this week!

Soon, I will be upgrading us from a vbulletin-based website to a xenforo-based one.

This change will have many benefits, such as:

  1. Enabling critical new features for you, like the ability to use our website properly on a mobile device or tablet.
  2. Allowing us to eliminate a lot of ancient, legacy code in favor of more modern, up-to-date, standards-compliant and better maintained code.

There are some things, though, that you need to know:

  1. Social Groups will cease to exist. If there is any content in any of your social groups that you want to keep, now is the time for you to download/save it.
  2. Album pictures won't be migrated, though our new platform will have a new album system you can use. If you have any existing pictures in your albums, consider saving local copies of them.
  3. Tapatalk will no longer be supported (though, you won't need it, because our website will now work in a mobile browser).
  4. The upgrade itself is probably going to require an entire day of downtime. Unfortunately this cannot be avoided - the data migration process itself takes hours (during which the site cannot be up), and there are many hours of configuration and troubleshooting that have to be done after that, before I can re-open it to the public. So, don't panic if you notice some downtime soon. Lots of work is going on behind the scenes!

If you'd like to ask questions, do so here.
If you'd like to help beta-test the new ADISC v5, ask in #adisc-version-5 on our Discord chat server.

Changed Hosting

Today, I moved all of ADISC to a new hosting provider.

You may notice that our website is faster and more reliable.

Everything else should stay the same. Be sure to let me know if you notice anything unexpected.

New Year

After an udderly ridiculous 2018, I want to wish you all a Merry Cowmas and a Happy Moo Year!
Let go of your beefs, relax from all the high steak shennagins, stay up pasture bedtime, cuddle your bulloved ones, put on some good moo-sic and milk the festivities for all their worth.
Hopefully I've amoosed you, and not butchered any of these cow'ntless terribull puns.
Some say they're un-bull-ieveable, others say they aren't hoof bad!
